Show Preparation Well Advanced

Helston Motor Show plans are well advanced, with the show taking place on Father's Day once more, that's Sunday 15th of June.

Planning for Helston Motor Show started in December and as this year is the tenth anniversary of the show the organisers are putting together a spectacular programme of stage and arena events to make the show a memorable one. There will be some old favourites and some very exciting new acts too, some of which have never been seen in Cornwall.

Nearly £4000 has been spent on entertainment to celebrate the occasion and some of the main events this year are: - 'On the Edge' stunt show, Cornwall Fiddle Orchestra, Helston School Jazz Orchestra, Groovey Moves Dancers, Dougie Bray's 'Wheels Revolution', Samba Band, Tae Kwon Do demonstration, Parc Eglos Country Dancers, Ocean School of Dance, Parc Eglos Brass Band, with several more yet to be confirmed. As last year, there will be a 'Kid's Corner' with Terry's Magical Illusions and also Professor Goodvibes Punch and Judy Show.

Around 20 Main Dealerships take part in the show, displaying their latest vehicles. If you are in the market for a new car or just want to browse, there's no need to travel the length and breadth of Cornwall ; on Father's Day most of them are on view at Helston Motor Show! The trade stands are numerous and varied and feature many local and national businesses and charities, all of whom serve the Helston/Lizard area.

As a service provided by the two Rotary Clubs in Helston, blood pressure checks will be carried out as part of the "Stroke Awareness" campaign. Helston's own charity, "ShelterBox," will be represented with all the news of how aid has reached out from Water Ma Trout to the remotest corners of the world including the more recent disasters in Burma and China.

There are expected to be upwards of 150 Classic vehicles of all types; from tractors to commercial vehicles, fire engines to bubble cars, all proudly displayed by their owners. Classic car applications are available from the following places: Castle Green Garage, Mullion Garage, Zoar Garage, Double S Service Station and Alligator signs.

Parc Eglos School provides many interesting and good value stalls to involve the younger children, whilst for the braver and older children there are larger fairground attractions. Full catering services are on-site, which include a pig roast and an ample supply of pasties to supplement the various fast-food outlets.

The showground is at Wendron Cricket and Football Club, which is just off the A394 Helston to Falmouth road near Carnkie and Rame. Free car parking is available in fields opposite the showground with disabled parking very close to the entrance. There will be a bus service running from Helston to the showground, picking up from Woolworths and Tesco from around 1100 and then throughout the day, times promulgated at the bus stops.

The show takes place from 10:30 until 5:30 and costs £3 per adult and £1 per school age child. The proceeds of the show will be split between Parc Eglos School in Helston and Wendron Football Club, which has an excellent youth development programme.

Applications for trade stands are still being accepted and details may be obtained here.
